I'm talking about the song. Sorry friends, for me it is one of the worst ever recorded by ELVIS. Maybe the live version from the MEMPHIS Show Feb. 1961 is a gas, but we don't know so far...but what i remember ELVIS likes this tune, sorry i don't like it (visual AND soundtrack). Matt

Time for a clue.

Are we looking for something visual or on the soundtrack ?

You'd need to listen to these songs on the DVD using headphones. I'm assuming this applies to all the DVD releases, but I fear it may not.

These songs for movies are written for a certain scene in the movie; a few songwriters were invited to write a song for that scene (often with the same title). The producer / director and /or Elvis decide what's recorded for that scene. These songs for the scenes are album-fillers and you can't compare these songs with studio-recordings.

For G.I. Blues were rejected:
Tulsa's blues and Dog face
These two songs by Leiber & Stoller were selected for G.I. Blues but not recorded.
Dog face was recorded later on 29-07-60 by the Coasters; however never released.
It's a pity that the Leiber & Stoller writing team were not allowed to write for Elvis any longer. Songs like Little Egypt - Girls girls girls - The Climb (VLV) - You're the boss (VLV) were excisting songs; they were not especially written for an Elvis' movie.

Yes i know colonel snow and i' like it to have you on this board, i learn a lot from you YES!! btw TULSA's Blues and DOG FACE i know the stories, buddy i've wrote my opinion about the Song "DOIN' THE BEST I CAN" as the song as it is. Col. i don't like this song, it's the same with "I Want To Be Free"...and a lot of others as "Take Good Care Of Her" it's a personal taste you know...BUT i would like to have ALL the Informations on EVERY SONG and Take and everything ELVIS HAS EVER RECORDED IN THE STUDIOS and LIVE, I'm a completist and Elvis-Music-Fanatic like you my friend...believe me. Thank so much buddy, Matt

They just about all feature extra music on the soundtracks. That isn't the answer.

No, I don't want to miss the phone ringing or the door knocker.

I don't want to criticise your efforts as a quizmaster, but what we are looking for has gone from 'unique' to 'unusual' to 'commonplace'.

No wonder we're all struggling...

It's not commonplace by any means. it is unusual when it comes to the tracks on the movie DVDs. It's not an attempt at being a quizmaster either, otherwise it would have been so noted.

As for "all" struggling, I don't think "all" applies as not "all" are making any comment.

So, what makes these few tracks unusual and it's a puzzle why they didn't all receive the same treatment. You carry on listening out for the doorbell though, as you probably won't hear it without headphones. Do your extensive sessions notes not include the songs in the films?

I don't list all the variations on soundtracks, unless a 'movie version' has seen a release on a CD...

OK. Well, the tracks I mentioned are in stereo on the DVDs, but the rest of the songs in those movies are not. I wonder why?

That is odd !

No explanation springs to mind !

All the songs in his films [post army] were recorded in stereo, & could & should have been presented in that manner on screen.

Songs with the background singers cut out, but yes, there would be lots more.
