On tour box set

Postby Jesswade » Mon Jul 25, 2022 11:20 am

Seems like there is a ftd on tour box set coming. August 14 will be the unboxing by Ernst. Looking forward to this.

I'd rather see it as a legacy edition than FTD because FTD is considered an import here in the USA so the price automatically doubles.

Also, Ernst has said in the past over and over again he wouldn't do anything with "on tour" until a major release was happening
with the movie, and I see nothing happening with the movie.

Perhaps the Baz movie was enough for him that will generate enough interest in Live Elvis on tour material.
Most of which has already been released anyway.

I dont see that happening at all.
And there will be a FTD release AND Sony one with OT recordings this year.

There will be little interest when it comes out on the Legacy label. There is simply no market for Elvis Presley live 1972. The latest bio-pic will not help either. The release is planned for November. The hype has been fade away by November. It would be the most obvious to release it on the FTD label.

Perhaps the mock Rehearsals will come out on FTD and the concerts on the main label?

Yes I agree.
But if it was up to me I would like 2 or 3 shows and 1 best of rehearsal cd on the main label and the rest on FTD.
The general public doesnt need 4 shows that is almost identical but then again they released 11(!) 1969 shows in 2019.

Exactly my point.
If they were able to release 11 identical 1969 shows on the main label they can do the same for 4 On tour shows.

Probably I don’t need the set; I’ve the four concerts + studio tracks a lot of times on cassettes - bootlegs – LP’s – CD’s – video – DVD. Maybe the sound is little upgraded but the tracks are the same. I’m only interested in unreleased items.

I'm hoping for the live shows and studio recordings on one set. Maybe they will release the rehearsals together with the book on ftd.

From Amazon US:

Elvis On Tour is a 6 CD + 1 Blu-ray box set comprised of the audio from four of the shows (and two rehearsal)s that were part of Elvis’ 1972 North American tour. Originally recorded for the Elvis On Tour concert film that was released later that year, the set features a total of 145 tracks, including 91 tracks that have been previously unreleased, as well as the award-winning concert film on Blu-ray.
