When Dr. Billy M. Chandler was hit in the face in 1972 with a jacket worn by Elvis Presley,
he had no idea it would one day be worth almost $60,000 !
The Elvis Presley jacket owned by Dr. Billy M. Chandler was part of the November 7th, 2015 Icons and Idols Rock ’N’ Roll Auction
held by Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Mitch Chandler had this jacket, originally worn by Elvis Presley, appraised at Antiques Roadshow’s stop in Little Rock on July 25, where it was valued between $30,000 and $80,000.
My thoughts:
I don't doubt the above is a genuine Elvis-worn stage jacket, but I can't find any photographic evidence.
In the 2011 Elvis book Fashion For a King, it can be seen that he did wear this type of jacket on stage in 1972.
The white jackets had coloured side pocket flaps & a single button, all of which matched the colour of the lining of the accompanying cape !
Examples are given of pockets [& cape linings] in red, blue, green & even silver, but not gold !
Can anyone come up with a photo ?
