Thanks, John. I have no answer for your questions, but when I see Angie and those white gloves, I know something very special is waiting for us.

Haha.

I think Nolan Truth has answered it on the previous page. Graceland screws up yet again.

Right, but I have my doubts. We know the recording was recorded and originally released dry, and echo was only added later by RCA Victor before re-release, but who knows how those acetates could have been processed. Do we have another one for comparison ?

Another thing, I'll be damned if that ending, the very last acoustic guitar strums, is not different from what we have heard all through our lives. Amazing.

The same Graceland YT channel has also uploaded this video today, and we can hear it here too. Listen closely, folks :

Yes, I'm glad you picked that up. It had been mentioned to me this morning.

Sounds like a bit of cut and paste.

Yes, it does sound weird, not as natural as the usual recording. But what could have been the purpose for such a thing ?

By the way, and we've mentioned this before several times, the 1985 "Rock And Roll - The Early Days" various artists compilation by BMG (the soundtrack to the video documentary with the same title) featured Elvis' 1954 master of "That's All Right" with a looped, faded-out, ending. Truly bizarre.

I don't think that "version" has been used again elsewhere.

This is a magic record in that you hear the crackle when it starts going round before the needle touches it.

Wink Martindale is doing well for 90, too bad Elvis wasn't able to find a way to achieve a long life.

John does a great job on explaining why the acetate Graceland played is fake.

Derailed Train - New [2].jpg

This thread was started to mark the 89th year since Elvis was born, not a discussion about the merits of acetates...

But it's connected, given that Graceland has screwed up.
