Maybe the audiences for the two shows decided how much they would pay & bought their tickets in advance before even the first show.

So Elvis knew the figure that had been raised when the 'rehearsal' was filmed...

mike edwards wrote:Maybe, Colin. But the figures don't add up. For the Elvis show(s) the capacity of the arena was limited to 6000 (normally over 8000). And we know both Elvis and the Colonel contributed to the pot.

So, that's 12,000 tickets over two shows, and $75,000 divided by 12,000 works out at about $6.00 a head. So, the average donation to see Elvis in Aloha was about $6.00! No way!

Obviously a lot of people paid more than that.

But it was left to the public to make a voluntary donation for a ticket.

Some youngsters were reported as paying just a few cents which would have brought the average down.

It makes perfect sense.

The $75000 reported at the Aloha show was said in case it was used as the broadcast. Lets not forget $75000 in 1974 was a decent amount. All makes sense to me. The average price of en Elvis concert ticket anyway was $5.

And let's not forget $75000 was a decent amount in 1973 too. ;)
I'm happy to be an Elvis fan! 8-)

A typing error, sorry. Though the Colonel probably kept it in his account for a year to get the interest lol

I said that half-a-dozen posts back...

Thank you Mike Edwards for this very interesting thread, yes buddy! Imo ...it is the same with "all the viewers on this event 1,3 billions" and the countries after January, well my thought is it was a trick fom the Colonel ... nobody knows before, how much money was coming in for the shows (12th or 14th Jan), because it was "almost free", never mind...i think it was all publicity and the old greedy crock Parker told ELVIS to say THIS about the amount of $ for charity on his show(s), only my opinion, perhaps a mathematical premonition of Parker?! And i think talking about $75.000 in 1973 for charity cancer found was a lot of money for promotion, don't you think so? Matt
