The definitive ..... album series advertisement from 1987

Postby Yin Yang » Mon Apr 15, 2024 2:35 pm

In 1987 a series of 5 double-LP's was released called The definitive ..... album".
1. The definitive rock & roll album
2. The definitive country album
3. The definitive love album
4. The definitive film lbum
5. The definitive gospel album.
For free you'd get "I wish you a Merry Christmas" double-LP.
The price of the set in 1987 as you can see in this advertisement from the quarterly magazine of the "Boek & Plaat" club was Dutch Guilders 149,95.
The same price was for the series on cassette-tape.
Then there was the new medium CD. Price for the CD-set was Dutch Guilders 199,95 but except for the tracks on the rock & roll CD a lot of tracks on the other 4 CD's were shortened in order not to exceed the maximum playing time of the CD,which was 74 minutes.
You had to be a member of this bookclub, which also sold CD's and later on DVD's.
You had to buy at least 1 title every 3 months from the then current catalogue/magazine as otherwise they would sendyou their "choice of the quarter".
Since they had shops in most major cities, you could pick up and pay your items there after showing your membershipcard.
But expensive items like this set could be paid in 3 monthly payments only if you ordered by mail.
The advertisement is in Dutch and shown here as a curiosty from the past.
