It seems everyone wants to believe his story, but it's filled with holes.
It makes no sense really. If you get a chance check my post on this story.
Thanks for posting what you did, you have added a few things I left out. ie. more holes in the story.
I had forgotten about the condition of the disc, and Ed claimed it was in his possession and in a safety dep. box for years virtually unplayed.
Not likely
I'm not sure, cadillac-elvis. Have you got a link to your post, please.
I was wrong I posted something on another forum....but I did post this, because the subject came up during the spa guy video thread.
"I have been vocal on the Ed leek thing for years. It all doesn't add up.
Bare in mind, so much mis-information about the two personal records has come forth over the years,
it really is difficult to tell one story from the next and which record it's pertaining to.
I don't think we will ever know the true story.
We are asked to believe it was Ed who kept after Elvis to make a record. ????
We are asked to believe Ed accompanyed Elvis over to the studio to make the record. ?????
Elvis nor anyone has ever said, "Oh I went with a friend over to the studio to make the record". did Marion remember Ed? doubt it.
So then.....Elvis makes a record for the first time, and he doesn't play it for his mother and father or his girlfriend, because
he doesn't have a record player????
So, what does elvis do????....bring them all over to Ed's grandmother's place to hear the record??
according to Ed, he and Elvis went right
over there, and Elvis left it, and never again looked at it, picked it up, nor played it for anyone?
Just Ed, and his grandmother. yeah right.
This is so farfetched I can't stand it.
The record was made in either july or august, but I have seen claims of july 18th without any proof.
According to Dixie he had a record player.
No one in Elvis' world remembers Ed leek.
In early 1956 Elvis said he still had the dub at his house.
Then later in 1956, he claimed to have lost the dub.
Why would Elvis say these things.
And how did the second dub get removed from Elvis' house?
I think the same way the first one did.
I can't recall where I read it, but Elvis' parents, his mother especially was way to friendly with the fans, and so was Elvis.
They let them in the Audubon drive house and let them roam freely, very trusting.
One article claims Gladys gave some girls a tour of the house and his bedroom while he was on tour. Crazy stuff.
And according to one article which I no longer have, is that because of this happening, so much stuff got "lost".
The article said, "stolen". but elvis was not going to say that to any interviewer. He said "lost".
He knew he had those discs and now they were gone.
Translation: The fans were taking things as souvenirs. Not that hard to comprehend.
I realize I have no proof, but this is my gut feeling based on the facts being so jumbled and that they don't add up.
But, i think those discs probably exchanged hands a few times in the ensuing years.
No way do I believe Ed's story. I apologize if I ruffle feathers, but the facts don't line up.
If they did, I would have no trouble in accepting the story.
I am in no way saying Ed stole the disc, but I think he bought it from someone who had it, knowing or unknowing what it was.
After Elvis died, he came forward and it was time to cash in on his investment.
His story makes a good story, but to me, it's just a story."
