You've Lost That Loving Feeling - 11 August 1970, MS (re-edited with RCA audio)

Postby WalterHaleJnr » Thu Aug 13, 2020 3:26 am

By the time Elvis performed You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling during his midnight show of 11 August, the minor teething problems that were apparent during the renditions during the first two shows of the engagement had all but disappeared and Elvis had virtually perfected his interpretation of the song. As good as the first two renditions were the first seen Elvis not completely at ease with the song and this manifests itself just as he goes into the bridge and the during the following evening's dinner show, in the version seen in That's The Way It Is, he mixes up the lyrics. However, during the midnight show, the third time that he performed it live, he absolutely nails it and he can bring his full power into it and the result is absolutely electrifying.

Despite this result, Elvis has not yet peaked with his rendition of the song and just twenty four hours later he produces a version which goes even a notch further during the midnight show of 12 August. In keeping with that particular show as a whole, he produces a version which in over a hundred and fifty other live versions would never be surpassed and it would become the RCA master and find itself as the opening track of side 2 of the That's The Way It Is album.

As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, Leon highly recommends you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
