Ah - it's the elusive details of a later 'Sun' cover version that are the most interesting...

Thank you Jesswade, this should be an interesting read. I'm now also looking forward to that master researcher, putting together all the facts, he had so laboriously doctored, that enabled the authors to find the information, that finally established what he all along knew.....

Love escot's work. He already wrote one about sun(good rocking tonight), great biography about hank Williams and one on grand ole opry. Looking forward to this one.

Thanks for the information.

I wonder if there's anything left to explain about Sun Records and its affiliated labels. I have maybe half a dozen books by Colin Escott & Martin Hawkins on the subject, not to mention the many books, booklets and liner notes featured on countless LP and CD releases over the years.

The first Sun book I purchased, about 40 years ago, is still my favourite one, not just for sentimental reasons :

It seems they are trying to tell the story through the 70 best recordings at sun. Anyway this news made me pull out the sun blues box from bear family. Goosebumps, they don't make music like that anymore. Where the soul of man never dies.

Yet another book to look forward to. It will be interesting to read what they have to say about some of the other Sun artists besides what they've already said about Elvis.
Recently a friend and I sat down and did a YouTube video covering quite a few people that recorded at Sun from 1950 through to 1960 when they moved around the corner. Neither of us are experts, just big time fans and we did it more for fun than anything else. I am not sure if this should be a new topic or not but will post a link here first. Some of the music is muted outside the US by YouTube unfortunately.

Very neat video. Thank you.

Just a little remark - Luther Perkins was not related to Carl Perkins, and he never played lead guitar on Carl's records. Carl played lead on all his records, and Luther played lead on all Johnny Cash records.

I'm pretty sure you are aware of this, but just to make things clear to everybody else. Thanks again.

Yeah, we made a few flubs. That we caught a little too late. I appreciate the feedback and will be sure to have a note added to correct that.
