What do you think the chances are there is a kinoscope to this appearance?

Did he sing? and what?

I think only one still has surfaced.

The reason I ask, is because I noticed there is lots of clips from his show on youtube, so why wouldn't Elvis' appearance be saved?

To answer your first question, it's possible a kinescope survives - you never know what the future holds.

Second, no, I do not believe he sang anything, just an interview, it's assumed. But until we find the footage we will know the answer.

Third, yes, there is a photo from the occasion. It's Elvis sitting on a bench with Jimmy Dean.

Fourth, can't answer that one. Lol

That's the one.

Apparently, this all happened around March, 1956. Elvis had only left Sun Records nearly 3 months before. My guess is, Elvis was probably there to talk about his first record for RCA, Heartbreak Hotel .

So at least the audio for that "interview" must exist somewhere, right ?

Numbered audio acetates were made of the show around this period, it seems to be a consistent practice at the station.

Though as of yet i've not seen the one that would feature Elvis,
but I believe there is a good chance the audio exists somewhere.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I suppose it's in the realm of possibilities that
this appearance will surface.
I surely hope so.

Thanks for your input, Kevan.

I asked because the short transcription of the "interview" that's available may have been taken from a recording, unless it's the transcription of someone's approximate recollection.

I believe the transcript is an approximation from Jimmy's memory, he never mentioned an audio copy, he did say it was a bad interview.

That's what I suspected, but I saw the interview listed as "unreleased" on Keith Flynn's site, and I thought it could refer to an actual recording.

Thanks again.

That's the key, the big "where" someone's gotta start hunting!

One thing I don't understand. Why do TV stations make acetates of interviews? Once the interview is broadcast on TV I always thought the public have heard it. So what's the reason for the acetate, where else were they going to broadcast it other then it's original TV airing?

As best I can gather, in general the whole show appears to be consistently transcribed to audio acetate or at least large parts, which I presume would include any short interview section if there was no editing, but may not if the show was edited. Until the show Elvis appeared on is found we will not know for certain.
