That's my life too.
I am afraid I have to take a vacation if I really look into the recording jungle of Keith's site.
Yep, it gives me a headache. It's not Keith's site, but all the variations of takes.....aaaaargh.
I don't own the stereo master of let me, I guess...since its not on the new Mrs set.
Do you have the Love Me Tender FTD?
Well, I leave it at that and listen to the rest of the set...

Well, yes, it is keith' website, but the jungle of takes varaiatin (composite of take 2nd.23b with 2 seconds of wfbx2015, second version e...spliced with wth6cb -only last two bars........you get the point.

No, I don't own the love me tender ftd......i buy ftd after the pick and choose principle ( my next one will be "kissin cousins, cause I hope for an sound upgrade compared to the double features).
Back then the love me tender soundtrack didn't offered to me that much. I had several stereo versions of this soundtrack..(on the 1997 jailhouse rock/love me tender Sony soundtrack cd were love me tender, we're gonna move an poor boy)....so only for some missing snippets of let me and few bars of "poor boy"....didn't appeal to me. I mean I could afford all that ftd stuff.....but I buy nowadays only what I really will listen to....
I am not into collecting for collecting sake.....didn't even bought the 2 g.i.blues ftds, and I love his movie period.....but after all those years with trillion already takes from that soundtrack in very good quality..i saw no reason
So the 2 sets of the jailhouse rock ftd s were a must for me.
But the love me tender soundtrack Ftd ...not so much.

Thanks, but once I pushed the "post reply"button, I don't see that menue.
And before I only some symbols...but not the quote button.

Maybe if someone posts from a tablet....that quote button just doesn't show up?
Ps:I know how to quote a complete post from somebody....like I did often here...

But once I post a reply...i don't see a "quote" symbol where I can paste a copied sentence in.

Me thinks.

I don't. Apart from when it came out, I have never played it again. It's false, in that they've just reduced the level of the backing track. They could have done that to many more songs as well.

Indeed; FTD team used the channel with the vocal from the two-track (binaural) tapes. It happened again on FTD Double trouble: Could I fall in love again - track 2012 take1 harmony vocal overdub is released solo. The harmony vocal isn't added to the master track 2002 take 6.
The FTD team can use every vocal track in this way when added to a pre-recorded instrumental track. I'm not a fan form these "fake" solo vocal tracks.
On the other hand you can create "pre-recorded instrumental tracks" on the same way; this happened on 4 CD set Celluloid rock vol 2 with Easy come easy go tracks.

No, the fake 'solo' version is vocal take 4 which is on this set with music, as it should be.
The 'master' was a splice of takes 3 and 4.

Is the fake solo version of take 4 still exclusive to the 1997 "Jailhouse Rock" / "Love Me Tender" CD ?

And Keith is normally very reliable when identifying takes etc.

Thanks, colonel, John, and Colin.

It's hard to believe it's never been used again anywhere in that form. I can't the see the point in having released it the first time around, but once they put it out, they could have included it on the "Love Me Tender" FTD, for example, which was so short of rare stuff.

How I hate arbitrariness.

These posts have gone on so long, I've lost track of which song is being referred to here !

Is it 'Let Me' ?

If so, the 'solo' version is also on the 2013 FTD 2-CD+book set: Elvis - The Best of British - The HMV Years 1956-1958 [CD 2].

Keith Flynn doesn't mention this release in connection with this song on his site, but it is covered in the 2017 book he co-wrote:

The World of Follow That Dream - Volume 3.

Yes, "Let Me".

I did quote the posts that mentioned the fake solo version of take 4, but the title of the song had already been "lost" by then, as not every preceding post had been quoted. Hard to explain but I hope you guys get the point.

Thanks for the information, Colin.

This makes it all even more incoherent, if that's possible. The "Love Me Tender" FTD doesn't have that version, and then the same label makes it available on a "compilation" CD.

An expensive book and CD combo no less, with a fake solo and a fake answer machine message to boot ! ;)
