Blue Hawaii - Your favourite tracks are...?

Far from my favorite album list, Can't Help Falling in love is a beautiful classic but it falls away from there. not my style.

Wasn't "Blue Hawaii" at one time the second best seller movie soundtrack in the UK and USA ( 2nd only to "West Side Story") until "The Sound of Music" came out ?

It was certainly a huge seller.

But popularity doesn't equate to quality.

Elvis is Back & From Elvis in Memphis didn't break any sales records...

"Moonlight Swim" - I have a soft spot for this song, even though Elvis' version is not the one I really like. The 1957 original by Nick Noble on Mercury is a classic, sung at a faster tempo than Elvis' recording, and featuring an ultracool, twangy, guitar solo that's absent from the Presley version. Elvis sings it slower, and that girlie chorus does no favours to him. But I still like the track.

Strange isn't it? I think the girly chorus is great because of the harmonies. It's beautiful, the way they blend. I've listened to the Nick noble version and to me it isn't a patch on Elvis' more relaxed rendition.

The second bridge in Elvis' version is beautiful, where he appears to be singing secoind voice behind the girls.

The "Blue Hawaii" LP was one of the first albums I ever got, and it brings back great memories. A few years later, a friend of mine lent me a 3-LP box set of "oldies" from Mercury and affiliated labels, and that's where I first heard the Noble origiinal.

Another thing I like about the Noble cut is those water effects at the beginning and the end.

One thing - avoid the Tony Perkins recording of the song. It's awful. Simply put, the guy couldn't sing.

Two horse race with "No More" and "Can't Help Falling in Love" thus far.
Can't believe "Ito Eats" is last. I would've thought "Aloha 'Oe" would be last pick as 80 percent of the track is without Elvis singing.

Actually I was thinking of it for this week poll it was either that or Elvis on Stage albums as i have not as yet made a live album poll and in doing so, it would be best to focus the ones with more of an originality with the track listings.
