Postby colonel snow » Tue Jun 04, 2019 2:54 pm

The original version was recorded in december 1964 by Gordon Lightfoot (United Artists UA 50055).

Other early versions:
00-02-65 - Ian & Sylvia (LP);
00-00-65 - Peter, Paul & Mary (Warner Bros 5496).

I like Gordon. I saw him live in the mid/late 70s. My friend Vic and I used to play a lot of his songs on guitar way back then. We could never sing together though as Vic has a very low voice, and I can sing quite high, so the key was always wrong for one of us.
