It's a nice song, but the Darin original reveals it was pretty much based on the recent "Hang Up My Rock & Roll Shoes" by Chuck Willis, also done at Atlantic. The Elvis arrangement disguises this fact.

Thanks for pointing that out. I never saw or realized the connection between the two songs.

Elvis' phrasing was a bit smoother and as he often did, he missed out some of the lyric.

The jordanaires ruin quite a bit this song too. Not as bad like like "in your arms", but....
It sounds ridiculous in places.
Even more bad since elvis attacks this song with a voice reminiscent of 1958.
By the way:bmg should release " in your arms"remixed with the jordanaires completely in the background.
This is the worst example ever of them.
What was elvis thinking?

He used the Jords and other backing groups too often. They ruined a lot of songs.

Some songs are debatable
But did he really liked the almost comical jords on "in your arms"?
