On the recently published Bad Nauheim - homerecordings the song is frequently rehearsed.
The tape starts with the announcement of "Jesus knows what I need" on the Statesmen label. The songtitle is wrong mentioned here; on the RCA album (1960) the song is titled "Jesus knows what I need".
Par instructions on 17 february 1961 changed into "He knows what I need".

So the first copies of the "His Hand In Mine" album had the song as "Jesus Knows What I Need" (original title) and then it was almost immediately changed to "He Knows Just What I Need" ?

That's interesting. Many thanks !

Why was there a need to change the title ?

Thanks, colonel.

I've found that both The Blackwood Brothers Quartet and Faron Young had this song released under the second title before Elvis recorded it :

And here's something really neat. The Blackwood Brothers Quartet had their version released on a 1956 RCA Victor album that also included "I Just Can't Make It By Myself", a song we hear on the Million Dollar Quartet tapes.

And what was the reference number of this album ? LPM-1255, the number following that of Elvis' debut album.

What are the chances that Elvis owned a copy of this record ? ;)
