They just didn't have a clue.

Reading the label from the previous post reminds me to LP You are there
Released in 1979 in green vinyl.

I have that one and I believe my copy is in yellow vinyl.

I had to get it because of that "Cook's Hoedown" credit, and in the end it was the same old Eagles Hall recording.

I watched all these reproduction with a lot of nostalgia as I have all these records at home, even if I did not play them since a long time.
I remember, back in the eighties, that I use to buy the thru a seller located in Berlin. I spent a lot of money with him: just to give you an idea each lp would cost 38 German Marks that, believe, it was pretty expensive.
Anyway, after many years, when lp lose their importance, I made a trip to Berlin with a friend of mine and during the holiday I decided to try to visit that gentleman: at the time life was easier and people use to operate with their own home address, so I park the car and ring his door.
A very cordial German frau welcomed us and she told us that his husband left for good for Hawaii a couple of years before and suggest us to visit a nearby cinema complex, not far from their house (actually Elvis was an hobby for this guy, he was deeply into movies).
Before we left she told me to give her my name, so she would tell him about my visit. I gave her my card with no expectation and, to my big surprise, two week after I received a post card from him from Hawaii.
Yes, it was an easier world with better people…

This guys name was Peter Vollman. I too bought boots from him. I even visited him in his cinema complex back in the 80s.

In those 80's I bought these bootleg LP's at fanclub-meetings - record fairs and some shops (where the boots were hidden and sold only behind the counter to trusted customers).

The good old days. From what I've seen in the old movies, it was like buying illicit booze back in the prohibition days.

This guys name was Peter Vollman. I too bought boots from him. I even visited him in his cinema complex back in the 80s.

that name rings a bell.
was he the manager of that cinema complex/chain back then?
about 35 years ago mr. vollman sent me the shaver book "the life of elvis" for about 100,- deutsche mark (back then, not one of the, but THE one and only most expensive, most luxurious foto book of our man - it was my collection´s "icing on the cake" for many years) and one of my first boot lps, "rockin´ with elvis new years eve".

wonder if he is still alive and what he´s up to these days.
are you out there, peter ... ??


p.s.: a quick search found a little splinter about him online. looks like he bought property in kauai (one of the hawaiian islands) in the 90s.
not much information here. but if he really went to hawaii, this should be the man.

King Kong Boots were the worst sounding LP's i ever heard . I bought 2 Beatles Boots when i was in Frisco 1975 on Vacation . I never saw them for sale in the Los Angeles Area . I still have a Tape Copy of the Loving You Sessions of the above Boot that Col . Snow posted the Cover . I Loved It . Borrowed that LP from a friend years ago .
