Consider this - Vincent used to wear a clear jacket in 1956. He was shorter than Elvis. The guy behind Gene looks much heavier than him, and it could well be his manager Sheriff Tex Davis...


If you are right, & it is Gene Vincent, then Al Wertheimer missed a golden opportunity !

This one was recorded and released in 1956 as his second single for Capitol, coupled with "Race Wtth The Devil". What a classic record.

It's one of my favourite Vincent tracks ever. Written by Texan rockabilly Danny Wolfe, it features the very first Blue Caps lineup, fronted of course by the great Cliff Gallup on electric guitar.

This is quintessential Gene. Listen to the verse right after the first guitar solo :
