Had "Tennessee"/"Sure To Fall" been released as a single it would have been Sun 235 which was the next one right after "Blue Suede Shoes"/"Honey Don't" Sun 234. Sun 236 was "No More, No More"/"They Call Our Love A Sin" by Jimmy Haggett. That's why when you look at a Sun discography Sun 235 is always blank and stated as "not issued".

I love playing "Tennessee" on my guitar - the two solos are cool.

It's also cool that "Tennessee" and "Sure To Fall" feature Jay Perkins, Carl's older brother and acoustic guitar player in the band, sharing the lead vocals. Another instance would be "Your True Love", where brothers Jay and Clayton did background vocals.

No complete alternate takes of "Tennessee" have ever surfaced, but a 30 second fragment was made available in 2012 by Bear Family. It's virtually identical to the master, but... here we go :

Almost exactly how I play it. Took me a bit of practice to get it just right but i'm ok with it now.

This guy Randy Richter is quite a cool guitarist. He has loads of videos...i have checked some of them out before.

Uh, oh. Both "new" songs have been removed from YT at the request of Bear Family.

That's understandable!

They have only just released this great album (still yet to get my copy, will not be long) and it's on YouTube already, which would, distract any potential buyers of this great issue. They are a business.

Bear Family are no fools.

It's very country. Elvis was more believable as a mighty, mighty man.

As a youngster I thought Elvis sung "don't you be a-frigid, I'll do you no harm".

I agree with you. As much as I like Carl, and appreciate the fact that he would be covering this material at that point, this is light years away from Elvis' reading, a definitive statement in early rock and roll. Maybe his first, as Sun 209 was just a little bit folksy by comparison, right ?

He might as well have sung "frigid", ha ha. The lyrics could not be more explicit than that. "Rockin'" was not about dancin' here.

Just an excuse to disguise the real intentions.
