British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, an ex-girlfriend of convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, has been charged in the US after being arrested by the FBI.

She is accused of assisting Epstein's abuse of minors by helping to recruit and groom victims known to be underage.

After being arrested in New Hampshire, she was brought to court and remanded in custody, for transfer to New York.

Ms Maxwell, 58, has previously denied any involvement in or knowledge of Epstein's alleged sexual misconduct.

Epstein died in prison on 10 August as he awaited, without the chance of bail, his trial on sex trafficking charges.

He was arrested last year in New York following allegations that he was running a network of underage girls - some as young as 14 - for sex. His death was determined to be suicide.

Money talks. If someone gets to someone who could arrange the "suicide", you never know what will happen.

It's reported that she's threatening to talk. Who knows if that's true, but if it reduces her jail term, it will be in her interest to talk? That means there will be a lot of people shaking in their shoes. Presidents and princes spring to mind.

Just on the point of the Maxwells, I saw her dad give a speech at some trade bash in the 80s. He was the most charismatic person I ever saw, he held the room in the palm of his hand. You could feel the power emanating from him. A friend of mine worked for him at the Daily Mirror and he says everyone was scared of him. He fired people on a whim, including one delivery bloke that didn't even work for him.

They reckon they've been keeping an eye on her for a while. I suppose once they found her, they had to get all the paperwork in order ready for the arrest so that there were no loopholes.

If this goes the whole way, it will be very interesting.

I suspect there will be a lot more to come out of the woodwork.
