Not really.

I remember him complaining that "they wouldn't let me bring my usual band over !"

Here's the programme & he may have been backed by some of those members:

It was The Plebs.

RIP Jerry Lee, even though he's getting lots of hate on social media.
As for other legends of rock'n'roll, Bo Diddley also deserves a mention

Yes, in the grand order of things, although Bo never achieved much chart success in the UK, with no single or album making the top 10.

April 5, 1964 was live at the star club recorded. There were 2 shows. Songs from both shows are on the album. Initially the record was only released in Germany and afterwards in Britain. Amazing that one of, if not the greatest rnr record was a underground record. If that is the right term? There is a great book about the album, by Joe Bonomo called lost and found.

December 1956 sun studio, Memphis.
EP:the wrong man has been sitting here at this piano.
JLL: well, that's what I've been trying to tell you all this time. Scoot over.
That was the killer.

Wow, quite a find. Thank you.

That's a very interesting documentary. Incredible footage - I've never seen him do "Big Legged Woman" before. Also, this includes the virtually entire footage from his TV debut, which is often edited. That footage, no matter how many times I see it, and despite that Allen clown, is just stunning. Oh, that's J. W. Brown (Myra's dad) on bass, and Russell Smith on drums. How things had changed in just 12 months. Elvis was not allowed to rip it up during his Allen appearance. They had changed their minds by now. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, you know.

That's OK. It only took a couple of minutes. All the info is out there. Interesting, isn't it?

All great choices. Thank you.

That first Elektra album was a true masterpiece. Not one bad track in it. And what a band.

My name is Jerry Lee Lewis, and I'm darn sure here to stay !!!

I also love that duet with Charlie Rich. It could go on and on for hours, and I would never get tired of it.

Here's a favourite of mine. Jerry recorded this drunken version of "I Can Help" in December 1975, but it never came out originally. I think it was released for the first time by Bear Family, at least officially. Unbelievably great stuff :

And if your child needs a daddy, we can discuss that too.

For one reason or another, I never did get the Mercury Years set, or Live In Hamburg.
