The Beatles - White Album ( 2018 and 2009 remastered)

Postby WalterHaleJnr » Tue Jul 17, 2018 10:54 am

Time for a new Beatles topic on just about anything/everything they ever waxed (and a few they gave up on) for their iconic double long player- The Beatles White Album. I am going to search for and post all the album tracks and outtakes as and when i find 'em hehe :D

Great Stuff!

I was playing this album last Sunday and even got my geetar out and played along to a few tracks. Blackbird and Julia are lovely to play on an acoustic.

Great album by a great band.

Next track i have picked was not even featured on the album (it should have been). Personally i'd rather have "Not Guilty" instead of "Revolution number 9". Another option would be to edit the"Revolution #9" rubbish from 8 minutes, 22 seconds to just 4 minutes and fit in "Not Guilty" that leads in to "Revolution 9".

"Dear Prudence" one of the highlights of the album. Sublime song and Lennon composition.

Instrumental version. Tape might be 50 years old but still sounds like it was waxed yesterday. You got to give Giles Martin his due in this regard :D

Man, this is so depressing to watch.
Imagine someone of Martin's expertise, creativeness and passion overseeing the Elvis catalogue.
Highlights once again how badly shortchanged Elvis is by both his label and by the people they employ to manage his legacy.

I see what you're alluding to.
But right now, i am not sure if Ernst stepping down is going to change or improve the situation. Said it a number of times and years, that EJ and Roger have been in their jobs, too long. Has there been another artist or musician who has had the same team involved for over 30 years ? On the flip side, even if they do get replaced, the new team would still have to answer to and deal with the label's policies.

A new production team would undoubtedly be under some kind of label directive; but you would hope a new team in charge were at the very least able to bring to the table more intelligent and innovative packages that did Elvis justice.
However, I firmly believe it goes beyond just company policy.
For example, Jorgensen said in the past that he didn't think there was enough good outtake material from the '69 Memphis sessions to warrant a volume in the mainstream "Essential Elvis" series.
Now, with that kind of mindset and belief you have to ask serious questions of his competence as a producer. And that's before you even attempt to catalogue the abundance of errors that have occurred under his watch.

The band's ninth studio album - a double LP - featured such tracks as 'Back in the U.S.S.R.', 'Helter Skelter' and 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'

The Beatles‘ classic 1968 record ‘The White Album’ is set to be re-released in November to celebrate the album’s 50th anniversary.

The band’s iconic double LP – which was their ninth studio album – features such timeless tracks as ‘Back in the U.S.S.R.’, ‘Helter Skelter’ and ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’.

First released on November 22, 1968, the 50th anniversary of ‘The White Album’ will be celebrated later this year with this special anniversary re-release. The album will be housed in a series of “lavishly presented” packages, with its 30 tracks having been newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and mix engineer Sam Okell in stereo and 5.1 surround audio.

As well as the original tracks, 27 early acoustic demos and 50 session takes – most of which have never been officially released – will also be included in the special re-release.

“In remixing ‘The White Album,’ we’ve tried to bring you as close as possible to The Beatles in the studio,” Giles Martin explains in his written introduction for the new edition. “We’ve peeled back the layers of the ‘Glass Onion’ with the hope of immersing old and new listeners into one of the most diverse and inspiring albums ever made.”

Sir Paul McCartney says of the album’s place in the Beatles’ history: “We had left Sgt. Pepper’s band to play in his sunny Elysian Fields and were now striding out in new directions without a map.”
