This is defintely 1958, probably between late January / late February, when did small tours in Hawaii, Australia and Florida.

I knew one photo of Buddy with Echo McGuire, but it wasn't this one. This is probably 1955.

Here's that photo of the couple. The image is relatively well-known, but this is higher resolution than usual. I scanned it from an old magazine, which had most of its images taken from original negatives or prints :

I'm going for Florida. Florida seemed to have a lot of those kind of buildings you see in the background of the photo.

No, I've never seen it. Buddy playing mandolin, and Bob using a thumb pick. This is early 50s, before they made the switch to rock and roll.

Yes, they were big fans of people like Bill Monroe, and Flatt & Scruggs.

He was 17 at the time, so it's possible he was there. A few months later, they were recording the private acetate of "That'll Be The Day".
