Special Non-Elvis Mini Quiz - No.73

The Sean Connery film 'The Hunt for Red October' from 1990.

A recent 'Black Mirror' episode 'Joan is Awful' with Salma Hayek

What's the connection between the two ?

The answer:

Although fictional, both feature things which are fast becoming a reality.

'The Hunt for Red October' - 1990 film with Sean Connery:

A Russian submarine has a virtually silent engine which makes it very hard for the US to detect.

The US have now developed such an engine & plan to introduce it soon.

'Joan is Awful' - recent episode from the 'Black Mirror' TV series in the UK:

Salma Hayek plays an actor who finds she has signed away the rights to her own image, with the film company using a CGI one instead.

In the US, actors are on strike demanding regulation to prevent that from happening there.

The strike of both writers and actors is also to get a better deal for re-runs.
One of our TV stations is doing a re-run of "The big bang theory" for years!
Same for CSI and NCIS series.
Death in paradise has rerun after rerun. And then suddenly there are 6 new episodes which you do not watch because you think it is another rerun.
After "Are you being served" had had rerun after rerun, now they rerun "Grace and favour".
Last week I was bored so I watched "Back to the future". Guess what was on TV yesterday? Yes indeed, "Back to the future".
Now I know quite a few older series I would like to see again but these are not rerun.
