Back in the 50s, at a secondary modern boys school, we didn't have subject called 'physics' - we got 'science' which covered most things.

I was never into stamp collecting, either...

Quote of the Day - 9th August:

Quote of the Day - 9th August - 001.jpg
Garry Spence.JPG
Garry Spence is one of Scotland’s most in-demand DJ’s
& has played in every corner of the country.
In addition to his hugely successful radio show,
he’s held down residencies in every major city of the country.
He is also regularly called-up to support major UK tour dates for the likes of
Rihanna, Little Mix, Pharrell Williams, Olly Murs & Madonna
when they appear in Scotland.
Garry’s career started in Inverness.

Just hope it's the right Garry Spence !

While we are on religion, Justin Welby, the Arch Bishop of Canterbury, has outdone himself in the WTF area !

The Anglican Church passed a resolution in 1998 saying that 'same sex marriage' was wrong & 'homosexual practices'
were incompatible with scripture.

Wildly out-of-date with how society works these days, but difficult to update with so many members of their ruling council
coming from countries still living in in the last century, like Rwanda, Nigeria & Uganda.

Knowing they'd never reach agreement on changes, they simply cancelled their last conference in 2018 !
One way out of the dilemma !

Justin Welby has now come up with a way to wriggle out of the ruling.

The 1998 resolution still stands, but if individual churches want to ignore it, they won't be condemned or sanctioned !

In other words, to belong to our church, you must accept our rules, but you don't have to abide by them !

What a cop out & why have 'rules' in the first place ?

There are occasional things like 'Nessun dorma' from Giacomo Puccini's opera 'Tarandot' which are listenable.

But you have to listen to a lot of boring stuff between their appearances.

Not for me.

Not for me.

One man's boring is another man's passion. I've been to Covent Garden to see Tosca, and that was brilliant, and an incredible experience. That was a present. I'd like to go to more, but it's so expensive.

What's so funny about pointing out facts, not the "western version"!

Well, nothing actually !

In English, the expression 'funny you should say that' leads to the pointing out of a coincidence - not a comment on content...

Not necessarily.

As for is Taiwan a part of China ?

I'm not familiar enough with the history to have an opinion.
