NB: There was an interesting version done with Wynonna Judd & Elvis on that Xmas Duets album we had a few years back...

Week-ending 1st December, 2017:
Just three this week:
No.88 - Last Christmas - Wham
No.37 - Golden Slumbers - Elbow
No.34 - All I Want For Christmas is You - Mariah Carey
A Gif - Xmas Tree.gif
OK - Golden Slumbers isn't strictly speaking an Xmas song as such, but it's from the John Lewis Xmas ad !

Despite its popularity on radio at this time of year, it may be perceived as too middle of the road for the singles market.
Norman wrote:Andy Williams, to most people’s surprise, became cool in later years and Bing Crosby at Christmas is still almost a staple as Christmas itself. Christmas has become pretty predictable when it comes to the best-selling seasonal favourites.
Come on “A Winter’s Tale” by David Essex (even though it isn’t really a Christmas song)!

Incidentally, I’m torn about this year’s Christmas No.1. The fair side of me wants Wham! to achieve that elusive No.1 and yet I still would like Ed Sheeran to be No.1 simply because he is brilliant again. From the early sales, it looks like Ed Sheeran is heading for No.1 again with a new take on “Perfect”.

My daughter, who quite likes Ed Sheeran, is nevertheless unhappy about the way he is monopolising the charts just now.
She is part of the campaign to get Wham ! to No.1 for Xmas.
That is beginning to look like a forlorn hope now...
